Riding to Work..

So it's about 17 miles to ride to work. So with the great weather the last few days I have brought out the roadbike and been riding to work. It's been great. This saves me a boatload of money on Gas and Parking and I really like the workout. The bus ride home at 10:37pm is a breeze and my gf picks me up at the park and ride 2 mi's away from our house. 5 days a week of this and I should be in prime shape for the summer! On a side note, I have to take my vaction all at once this year so I will have to do my big rides on monday and tuesday this year but not a problem. The trails that I want to do I feel good doing solo or with one or two other riders.

Weekend on the Island...

Returned to Fort Ebey for a weekend camping Trip. Finally some more great weather. My GF had the weekend off and I really wanted to get her out for a nice camping trip and her first mountain bike adventure. WE stopped at the Diamond Knont Brewery before boarding the ferry for a growler of there wheat beer. Highly recommended! We also stopped at Whole Foods Super Market for some eats for the trip. This place is simply amazing! Being a Chef they have everything that I could imagine! Seafood, Meats, Cheese, Deli, Produce and the List goes on. The Beer selection alone is worth going here. Everything is Top notch! We finally arrived at fort ebey at quickly set up camp. After 3 years of camping with my GF and some 100 or more days of camping(no joke) we have this down to a science! She set up the tent and I got the bikes and kitchen ready. We then headed out on a adventure at Fort Ebey. This was her first ride and I was quite impressed. She was abit timid on the root sections but rode most of them. Some of them I was quite surprised that she cleared! She did great on the climbs and loved the downhills. Overall I was very impressed and she had a great time. We arrived back at camp and were quite Hungry. Dinner was to be quite easy for me but great none the less. Some Organic Grapes, Black Peppercorn Brie, Cullen Porter Cheese, Sagkit Genoa Salami, Rosemary Flatbread, Fresh Baked Ciabatta, Saison Dupont Farmhouse ale, Golden pheasant Lager, and a knife to cut it all!! What a way to finish the Day. The cheese was amazing. The Beer the Best in the World! We had a great time and turned in to a great night of sleep. We took a quick ride in the morning and enjoyed sights of Eagles and the smell of the ocean. What a great trip.

Rat Pac!

In the Little town of Roslyn, Washington on the East Side of Snoqulamie Pass is a Trail System Called Rat Pac. My Good Friend Erik has always spoke very Highly of this trail system with it's Fast Flowing singletrack to it's high Berms and Compression Drops. There are also some elevated features, Ladders, Stunts, and Jumps. So 22 riders leave the parking lot in Roslyn and head up to the Top of Rat PAc. It was really hot and being that were not used to the heat here in Seattle the sweat was pouring from body. I decided to Bring the Nomad with New MAxxis Minion UST Tubeless Tires. These tires are super Sticky and at 2.5 they are also super wide and very heavy! I also opted to bring the Full Face Helmet, Full Pads and my Downhill Backpack. There were some pretty Tough hills and I really noticed the 38-39lbs of the Nomad and had to push rather than ride more than a few times. We finally get to the top to regroup and Pad Up. We than head into the trails. Real nice with lots of flow. Bob B, Brad, and myself led the charge and were really hauling. Bob and Brad are awesome riders and we were having a great time. This being my first time here the stunts would come up real quickly leaving not much time to see the other side or check them out. There were a few stunts that I would not hit but most I would on a second time around. I did however clean about half of them. The compression jumps were real nice and the high berms were really fun. The Jumps were small to Medium but real fun with the Gap over the Log being the Best. The best part about this trail is there are ride arounds for all of the stunts so riders of all abilities can ride here. The Last Stunt was a Skinnie Bridge (about 10 inches wide) over a ravine. To come off of the Bridge would mean a 10 foot drop to the bottom, not something that I wanted to experience. So as I rode into the Feature my mind took over and before I knew I was over the Bridge. Smooth as silk and I really nailed it! I love the feeling of accoplishment after riding such difficult features. WE that proceeded to head back up a looooong Fire Road to the exit trail and Rode Back down to the Parking Lot. The Last Trail was very fast and we really enjoyed ourselves! Thanks Erik A for a great ride and also for driving! Your new truck ROCKS!

Finally! No Rain!

Well, I took the day off yesterday to Do a Ride on the East Side of the Pass and the Rain Fell thus canceling the Ride. Needlees to say My GF and I had a great day instead and we went to the Snoqulamie Brewery for some of their Spring Fever ale and some eats. The Spring Fever Ale is one of my FAvorties and on Draft it is even better! We also saw X Men 3 which we enjoyed.

So today I was in Bike Mode. I went to GHY Bikes in Renton to check there shop out and Met AJ and his crew. Great Group of Guys and a Great shop. I returned back home and was at a dilima. Did I want to go on a Mountian bike ride, and urban-skate park ride or a Road ride? The trails would be in shity condition due to the rain and I did an Urban Ride on Sunday so a ROad Ride it was. I got the Road bike out and put on my spande"X" and Dove in. My goal was around 40 miles or so. I rode from Issaquah to Downtown Seattle up to Queen Anne and Back home to Issaquah. One of my other goals was not use the Triple ring today. No Problem there. Total ride mileage was around 47 miles and about 2 and half hours. After the Ride I headed home and Brought out the Jackal for some Street Play around the neighborhood. Great ride and only one close call with a Car!
